Why photography?
I like to say videography is my profession and photography is my hobby, but really I love both. I’ve done everything from random experimental photography to landscape and nature photography. I love sharing, and although it’s not the same as being there I hope my photography gives people a glimpse into the places I’ve been and the cool things I’ve seen.
A bit of history
I’ve been taking pictures for as long as I can remember ever since I decided to take apart my dad’s Canon AE-1 and screwed up the cloth shutter.
I’m less destructive with my photography now (and DSLRs are harder to take apart), but I still like to experiment with different techniques. I’m also an avid archivist, currently working on digitizing the thousands (literally) of slides and negatives and pictures from my family’s history and getting them into a more stable format while retaining as much of the qualities of the original as possible.
Adventures and fun
Nowadays I use photography as a way to get out and enjoy how cool the world is. From hiking and cycling to exploring cities and finding interesting people, as Discovery Channel says “The World is Awesome” and I intend to find it and share it with whoever I can.
Now with more awesome
Right now I’m in the process of moving all of my photos from Flickr to Smugmug. Flickr’s nice but Smugmug’s interface is much easier to work with. Until that’s ready you can take a look at either (or both):
