What We Could’ve Bought with $3 Trillion

October 30th, 2008

Other things we could’ve bought with the $3 trillion we’ve spent in Iraq:

  • College tuition for every child currently in high school 3 times over.
  • 3 iPods for every person on the planet.
  • Paid off every American’s credit cards.
  • 50 million Habitat for Humanity houses (enough to house 129 million people)
  • Produce enough ethanol to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.
  • Pay for enough cancer screenings and vaccinations to save 300,000 lives per year.
  • Pay for 5.7 million additional teachers in the classroom.
  • Buy 1,363 space shuttles
  • Buy every person on the planet 461 Cokes.
  • Feed 1.3 billion starving children from when their born until their 18th birthday.
  • Provide 46 trillion meals to the poor.
  • Adopt 30 billion polar bears.
  • Build 72,639 hospitals in 3rd world countries.
  • Save 200 billion acres of rain forest (5 times the landmass of the Earth).
  • Restore sight for 91 billion people with cataracts.
  • Restore the wetlands around New Orleans 214 times.
  • Buy 93 billion gallons of ice cream.

Dream Story – The Sunroom Incident

October 26th, 2008

A story I wrote for Concept and Story class about a dream I had…

He sits at his computer, in his silent room, the only noise and light, from the wind blowing through the trees and the afternoon sun shining in through the window. Click-click-click, ssssh.

PotD #12 – The Monument

October 12th, 2008

I wasn’t feeling very well today so I decided to put up a picture that I restored instead of one that I took. This is my grandmother and grandfather standing by the Washington Monument in Baltimore where they first met. I don’t know exactly when it was taken but I’d guess probably either late 1930s or early 1940s.
